Number of hours of maternity care

During the intake interview we assess your personal situation. We then calculate the number of hours of maternity care according to the National Indication Protocol. You are entitled to this based on the basic indication

49 hours of care for 8 days when breastfeeding and 45 hours of care for 8 days when you give formula.

The legal minimum is 24 hours of care for 8 days. Bby Zorg always strives to provide full hours of maternity care. 

During the maternity period, the indicated hours can be adjusted by the midwife. This depends on the medical situation at that time.

Contribution

Bby Zorg has contracts with all health insurers in the Netherlands. The costs of maternity care are reimbursed from the basic health insurance package. However, there is a personal contribution per hour of maternity care provided. For 2024, the personal contribution has been set at €5.10 per maternity care hour. If you have additional health insurance, your personal contribution may be fully or partially reimbursed by your insurer. We therefore advise you to contact your health insurer to inquire about this.

Health insurers

Do you not have Dutch health insurance or do you have foreign health insurance? Then you may also be entitled to reimbursement for maternity care in the Netherlands.
